Avenli is being built to help students record, understand and revise lectures. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Avenli website, analytics features and early-access waitlist.
1. Information we collect
If you join the Avenli early-access waitlist, we collect the email address you provide.
We also collect limited website analytics to understand how the site is being used and whether important parts of it are working effectively.
Our infrastructure providers may also process technical information needed to deliver, protect and operate the website, such as network request information, browser information and security-related data.
2. Aggregate website analytics
Avenli uses its own privacy-focused aggregate analytics system to measure website activity without creating an individual visitor profile.
This may include aggregated measurements such as:
- page views;
- scroll depth, such as whether visitors reach 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of a page;
- whether important sections of the website are viewed;
- approximate attention time spent on website sections;
- clicks on important buttons and calls to action;
- waitlist funnel events, such as whether the form was started, submitted or successfully completed; and
- aggregated conversion and engagement statistics.
Our custom aggregate analytics system is deliberately designed not to store an Avenli visitor ID, session ID, email address, browser fingerprint or the contents of information entered into the waitlist form.
Individual events are combined into aggregate daily counters before being used for reporting.
3. Optional experience analytics
Avenli also offers optional Experience Analytics powered by PostHog. This is disabled unless you choose to enable it.
If you allow Experience Analytics, it may help us understand how visitors move through the website and where people encounter problems.
Depending on the features enabled, this may include:
- behavioural interaction analytics;
- page journeys;
- heatmap information;
- dead-click and repeated-click detection;
- website error information; and
- privacy-protected session replay.
We configure Experience Analytics so that input contents are masked for session replay. The Avenli waitlist form and its email field are also explicitly marked to be excluded from behavioural capture.
Experience Analytics is configured to use PostHog's EU service endpoint.
4. Your analytics choices
You can control Avenli's analytics from the Privacy & analytics control displayed on the website.
The controls allow you to separately manage:
- Avenli's aggregate website statistics; and
- optional Experience Analytics.
Experience Analytics remains disabled until you choose to allow it.
Your analytics preferences may be stored locally in your browser so the website can remember your choice.
5. Why we use information
We use information collected through the website to:
- manage the Avenli early-access waitlist;
- send launch and early-access updates;
- understand how effectively the website communicates the Avenli product;
- identify usability or technical problems;
- improve website performance, reliability and design;
- operate and protect the website; and
- prevent abuse, spam and fraudulent activity.
6. Early-access emails
Joining the waitlist means you may receive emails relating to Avenli's launch, testing and early-access availability.
You will be able to unsubscribe from these communications at any time.
7. Where information is stored and processed
The Avenli website is hosted using Cloudflare.
Early-access email addresses and Avenli's aggregate website analytics are stored using Cloudflare D1.
We selected an EU data-location jurisdiction for the current Avenli D1 database.
If you enable Experience Analytics, relevant analytics information may also be processed by PostHog through the EU service configuration used by Avenli.
8. Sharing information
We do not sell your personal information.
Information may be processed by infrastructure, analytics and communications providers where necessary to operate Avenli, maintain security, understand website performance or provide communications you requested.
9. Data retention
We keep waitlist information only for as long as reasonably necessary for early access, launch communications and related operational purposes.
Aggregate website analytics may be retained for longer so that Avenli can compare website performance and engagement over time.
Information collected through optional service providers may be subject to separate retention settings that Avenli configures as the service develops.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including rights to access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to certain processing.
You can contact us if you would like to make a privacy-related request.
11. The Avenli application
Avenli is still in development. Before the application becomes publicly available, this policy will be expanded to explain in detail how information used by the application is handled.
This will include areas such as lecture recordings, transcripts, generated study material, AI processing, accounts, storage, deletion and application analytics.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may change as Avenli develops and as the website or application gains new features.
The latest version will always be published on this page with its most recent update date.
